This requires and extraordinary amount of patience in that the franchisor takes a process that once buyer and seller have agreed and due diligence is done, would normally require several weeks to a month. The Franchisor in this case extended the ordeal from February to the middle of September. When situations would sometimes get tense Jim would always position himself in the middle maintaining everyone’s perspective and not letting the ridiculously inept handling by the franchisor and endless delays tear things apart. He certainly earned his keep.

“What can I say. Jim is the best. Not only does he know his trade very well. He is not, in the least bit, greedy. One of my main concerns with any brokerage was, did I really need one. One of my potential buyers had wanted to circumvent Jim or any broker, stating that “they were only interested in their commission”. Let me tell you I am glad that I did not try to go this alone. There is so much I just do not know about selling a business. I know plenty about my business (HVAC) but this was a whole different world. Long story short this guy tried to rip me off, since I had already moved out of state, and he knew my employees well. Bottom line, with out Jim’s very thorough paperwork that guy could have succeeded in his thievery. Here is the kicker for all of this Jim made not a dime, besides his initial evaluation of my business. Please call me if you are even hesitant about signing with Jim. Because I owe him big time.
